Crowns Miami Beach

A tooth that sustains serious damage, such as a crack or break, can often be restored with a dental crown. Also called a cap, a crown fits over an existing tooth, returning strength and preventing future damage. Crowns can also be used to enhance the esthetics of a tooth or to anchor a bridge. Dr. Edderai offers several types of crowns to cater to your needs and desires.

All-porcelain crowns - Ideal for front teeth, all-porcelain or ceramic crowns closely resemble natural tooth structure. They can be made in a dental lab or in our office using CEREC technology. With CEREC, we prepare the tooth, design the crown, and place the permanent restoration in a single visit. This amazing technology eliminates the hassle of temporary crowns and the need for a second appointment. Ask us more about CEREC one-visit crowns during your visit.

Metal - Gold, palladium, nickel alloy, and chromium alloy are common materials used for metal dental crowns. These metals are biocompatible and capable of withstanding the tremendous biting forces incurred by back teeth.

Porcelain fused to metal (PFM) - PFM crowns consist of a metal framework and a porcelain casing. Designed to look like natural teeth, PFM crowns provide an esthetic option for patients who don't want metal showing in their mouths. Back teeth often require metal or PFM crowns.

Teeth with extensive damage may require root canal therapy prior to crown placement. If this is the case, Dr. Edderai may perform the root canal or refer you to an endodontist (root canal specialist) for care. After the tooth has been restored, Dr. Edderai may build the foundation for the crown, known as a "post-and-core" foundation, before placing the crown. While laboratory technicians create the crown, Dr. Edderai will give you a temporary, acrylic crown, and the final restoration will be placed in a subsequent visit.

As your cosmetic dentist, Dr. Edderai will make your dream smile a reality. Our Miami Beach dental office creates stunning smiles for patients from Miami, Aventura, North Miami Beach, and beyond. Call today to reserve your personal consultation.
